In a shocking display of anti-social behaviour, supporters of the Liberal Democrats traded blows and insults with Labour Party activists as the Lib Dems's baby-faced candidate from Newcastle, Greg Stone, launched the Lib Dem's by-election campaign in Sedgefield. As a number of unseemly scuffles broke out amongst the warring factions, in full view of the media, amazed bystanders and local voters looked on with bemusement as the two parties traded juvenile insults and pushed and shoved one another.

Even the pro-Labour, Darlington-based Northern Echo appealed for calm, saying the by-election was "in danger of descending into a rather bad-tempered, even nasty, affair," because of the behaviour of the main parties, while a supporter of the Blairite Labour candidate, Phil Wilson, condemned the Labour party's thuggish tactics...........
And the media constantly portray the BNP as the party only fit for knuckle dragging thugs...
