Mandatory voting

Would you ever support mandatory voting?
Explain your reasons for/against forcing people to vote.

I would be in favour of making voting obligatory, because we can't afford to be lazy. Other people are fighting and dying for this priviledge while many people in the UK can't be bothered making the effort.

On the other hand, there are people who don't know or don't care about politics. If they are forced to vote they might just vote for anybody.

Anyhoo, tell me what you think.
