I hereby propose that a new fund/charity be setup. This fund will be voluntarily contributed to by any member of the public who feels they have an obligation, duty or desire for the welfare of migrant workers from the EU and asylum seekers.
All welfare services for such individuals will be financed from this fund, including medical costs, housing rental costs, work seeker allowance etc. Immigrants and asylum seekers who are able to find employment, will be expected to contribut a small amount to this fund, in the form of a new IAWF tax, this gives those fortunate enough to receive assistance an opportunity to say "thank you" by helping other hapless immigrants and assylum seekers.
This fund helps to ensure that the costs of such services are not unjustly imposed upon the general public but are borne by those who have a desire to assist such people.
Naturally the size of this fund and the degree to which members of the public who have excess money around, contribute, will limit the number of people who are able to be assisted in any given year.
This will address the growing problem of our public services being burdened by ever growing numbers of claimants.
OK as long as it's totally voluntary and it goes hand in hand with much tighter restrictions on who is allowed into the country, i.e., essential workers only. Basically I'd like to see all immigrants having to speak at least passable English, have a specific job to come to, have enough capital to support themselves and their family for at least 2 years and not be able to claim any benefits for that same time period.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised 'for the good of its victims' may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us 'for our own good' will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C.S. Lewis
