| Caernarfon....Is historic Black Boy pub racist? A historic pub in Caernarfon has come under fire over claims its name is racist. The landlord of the Black Boy Inn says he has received at least a dozen complaints from visitors over the name, which dates back at least 250 years. John described the complaints, spread over the last 18 months as "political correctness gone mad", and said people in the town fully backed him. Police said they had not received a formal complaint about the name and would seek external advice if a complaint was made.. Mr Evans said: "The name has been here for hundreds of years but for some reason the last two years has seen a big increase in the number of people complaining about it. "I don't know if it is the changing culture where everything has gone so PC but complaints have certainly increased. "It is not people from Caernarfon, because they understand how far this name goes back, it is visitors who do not know about the heritage in the town and where this name comes from. "I would never consider changing it, even if it was bad for business, because we have to hold on to our heritage. "I don't know if it's affecting trade at the moment because I suppose people who are very offended just don't come in. Those who have complained have sometimes been quite offensive. "Just the other week an American tourist accused me of being a racist for having this name for my pub." Community nurse Dafydd Hughes, 53, a regular drinker at the pub, said: "I don't understand why they are moaning about this name, there is nothing racist in the name at all.
