Imam's will be blessing homosexual unions?

Gay church blessings and a crisis of faith - Telegraph

The government want to control religion and faiths by forcing them to comply with equality legislation.

This will mean that Islamic Imams as well as C of E ministers will have to bless unions, totally against their personal faith and consciences.

And if they refuse to comply? The front page of Thursday's Daily Telegraph spelled it out: "Vicars to be sued over gay weddings". And not just vicars, but Catholic priests, rabbis, imams, ministers of the (gay-unfriendly) Church of Scientology – to say nothing of soft-voiced ministers of the Kirk.
Is this desirable political interference in matters of faith?
    I really don't think so.
Jesus said in John 3:17, "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

    No it's absolutely atrocious!!!
Religion and the state should be totally seperate! I have no problem personally with gay "marriage" but I do not think people of faith should be forced to put aside their opposing views and conduct a ceremony. That's not even equality as it supresses someone's right to act on their own conscience/ moral compass. Government out of religion and vice versa say I.

Actually I'm kind of surprised nobody has gatecrashed the Catholic Church over equality laws regarding women priests. But yes, this is well wrong.

You can be as vile and disgusting as you want, all you need to do is say it is part of your religion and you get off Scott free.

Its not about the follower, its about the faith itself. For example a catholic's faith advises a catholic that Abortion is a sin, but it dosnt demand the catholic kills abortion providers, nor does it activly forbid a catholic from seeking an Abortion( because of seperation of church and state).

Many laws exist that most faiths would have nothing to complain about, if they do complain they have no say in matters of Government therefore Government should have no say in matters of faith.

I cant see any aspect of any faith that i could call vile and disgusting, the actions of some of the members are vile and disgusting and if they break any laws they can be charged. For example if a Mormon went on a shooting rampage in Alabama and climed he did it because he felt he was doing gods work in accordance with the Book of Mormons teaching, that would not be protected by any laws seperating church and state because the Book of Mormon does not instruct mormons to go on shooting rampages in Alabama( I think they prefer to do that in Missouri but Im not completely sure).

Stalin and hitler didnt like religons and took positive action to eradicate them, i guess you support their methods........

Yes i think this is desirable. This isn't about mixing law and religion it is about upholding the law of the land instead of having loopholes so people can continue being racist, sexist, homophobic. Religion should not be a reason to do what ever one wants to do. I hear the Vatican is it's own country and they can make their own laws there and make sure they are in line with their religion. I think that is fair and they are more then welcome to take their racist, homophobic religion there. I sure hope one day our leaders will have the courage to pass such laws. Wasn't The BMP made to accept other races as members? Why does religion have power over state?
