DRUG workers are bracing themselves for a huge flood of heroin into Scotland after a record poppy crop in Afghanistan.

The UN are this month expected to reveal the Afghans have broken last year's record harvest.

Opium poppies are used to make heroin and it is estimated that 90 per cent of the drug sold in Britain comes from Afghanistan.

The main source is believed to be Helmand province, where 6000 British troops are fighting the Taliban..........

Strange I thought one of the reasons behind being in Afghanistan was to reduce the amount of poppies grown and heroin produced thereof.
