| Aberdeen's 50m Pool After another set back for Aberdeen's plan for a 50m pool I sit here wondering if there will be an end to the central belt bias in Scottish politics?
A swimming pool that is going to cost an estimated £23 million, has been stalled again by the Sports Minister for Scotland Stewart Maxwell. Local newspaper the 'Evening Express' got 1,300 signatures on a petition to the Sports Minister and still no budge. £8 million for the scheme has already been secured from the local government and one of the Universities, but this still doesn't seem enough to convince him that an area that has produced and has the potential to produce more great swimmers like David Carry and Robbie Renwick, would benefit from an olympic class swimming pool that could hold local and national competitions. What the sport minister Stewart Maxwell does deem money well spent is another 50m pool for Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Stirling, which funnily enough already have one olympic class swimming pool in the areas and also fall within the central belt in Scotland.
Does anyone else out there wander if there will be a change to Scottish Politics and that politics in Scotland wil reach further north than the central belt? |
