Should polluting vehicles pay more tax?

Drivers of certain vehicles not meeting low emission standards will face a charge of £200 to enter Greater London from Monday. Will this new charge make drivers reconsider their journeys?

The Low Emission Zone (LEZ) will see the most polluting diesel-engined lorries, buses, coaches, minibuses and large vans having to meet specific emission standards or face the daily charge.

It does not apply to cars, motorcycles or small vans (under 1.205 tonnes unladen weight).

What do you think of the London proposals? Are you the driver of a vehicle facing the charge? Will it affect your travelling plans? Would you like to see the charge extended to other cities?

Like many other people have said, more tax will not cut co2 emissions.
