| UKIP... Councillor meltdown begins! Up until the start of February the much-troubled UKIP were claiming 5 councillors at district level in Devon. Then, in March Cllr. Eastwood (Torridge DC) left them for the Tories where this gentleman is mistakenly named as Cllr. Easton. This left them with 4 councillors – 3 on North Devon District Council (NDDC) and 1 on West Devon District Council (WDDC). A quick check of the nomination returns posted by NDDC today lists no UKIP candidates standing for that body at all; meaning that there are no longer any UKIP councillors on that council – if the posted information is correct. In addition a perusal of candidates for WDDC shows that UKIP’s former councillor is now standing as an independent. This leaves UKIP, as far as we know with no councillors in Devon, except for two or three town/parish councillors.      |
