Thumbs down Labour's useful UKIP allies...

UKIP is seen by a growing number of observers as Labour’s "Knight in Shining Armour". And you don’t have to look too far to find the reason!

2004: In the European Elections of 2004 the "anti-EU" party, funded to the tune of an estimated £2 million per annum by the EU, received the assistance of a well known television celebrity who - just happened - to be an ex-Labour MP. In addition, they received the expert advice and assistance of the country’s leading publicist, a man who - just happened - to be a Labour supporter. Not content with this, their campaign was massively boosted by the media, particularly that part of the media that - just happened - to be Labour-friendly! All of which constituted a national campaign that worked to Labour’s advantage in denying European Parliamentary seats to both the BNP and the Conservatives. Indeed, it is estimated that UKIP’s Labour orchestrated campaign cost the Tories at least 6 MEPs!

2005: The following year, 2005, the Knight in Shining Armour once again rode to Labour’s aid in the General Election, by targeting those seats that were either Conservative marginals or were possible Conservative gains. So successful was this strategy, from Labour’s perspective, that up to 30 Conservatives either lost their Parliamentary seats or failed to win them. The chief beneficiary of all this - just happened - to be Labour!

2006: In the local authority elections of 2006 UKIP made a point of targeting seats in areas where the BNP were expected to do well - indeed it is known that some candidates standing on the UKIP ticket in some of these largely working class areas, had a history of supporting Labour or were closely related to Labour officials and representatives. Further, it was questionable whether UKIP actually even had an organisation at all in some of the areas concerned. Once again, a UKIP campaign that - just happened - to benefit Labour. In addition UKIP themselves confirmed that they had a working relationship with the sinister Labour and trades union funded Searchlight group!

2007: It was revealed in a West of England newspaper that the UKIP man organising the "Better Off Out" (BOO) campaign was a former well-known National Front member and that the campaign was building to target selected MPs, the majority of whom - just happen - to be Tories!

So it should come as no surprise that UKIP’s Campaign Alliance for Referendum in Parishes (CARP) front group should - just happen - to provide Labour with a cast iron legitimate reason why not to hold a referendum on the EU Constitution Treaty!

How could that be?

The result of yesterday’s referendum in the tiny village of East Stoke in Dorset was 72 in favour of a referendum - with 8 against. That looks good at face value but however, the devil, as usual, is in the detail. There are 333 registered electors in that particular parish - which means that although 72 (22%) voted in favour of a referendum - that 261 (78%) either voted against it or thought the issue to be of such unimportance that they couldn’t be bothered to vote at all! The implications of this are as enormous as they are obvious - but we’ll point them out anyway, for good measure.

Armed with the East Stoke result Gordon Brown can now, quite legitimately, claim that as the vast majority of voters (78%) have either no interest in a referendum or are opposed to it, that it would be quite wrong to hold one! One can just see him now crowing: "As the good electors of East Stoke have demonstrated - the vast majority of the public are not in favour of a referendum on the Treaty"! Thank you UKIP!

And if it were not bad enough that UKIP should - just happen - to be instrumental in giving Brown this "Get out of the EU Treaty Referendum Free" card - they now intend providing him with a full deck of such cards by arranging more local referenda on this issue - all likely to have the same useful-to-Labour outcome!

Just the latest example of UKIP being Labour’s pawn or - just happens - to be another coincidence?

As an increasing number of good ordinary patriotic UKIP folk are discovering: UKIP - Labour's hand in a so-called "anti EU" glove!
