Is it not time that a decision was made on the future of local government, is it not time to say thank you but no thanks for the continued mismanagement of our villages, towns and cities by a bunch of incompetent, corrupt and unprofessional no hopers?

Lets look at a typical town council made up usually of those wishing to enhance their own business links, profile and ego and those who just want to "meddle", the latter often ending up on planning committees and able to make decisions which provide them with exposure in the local press and an opportunity to say no thus creating an impression of status, or so Councillor ******** might think!

How many times do you open the local paper and see evidence of council tax wastage on ventures such as Mayoral centenery celebratory banquets, refurbishment of council chambers, council exchange with a twin town in Latvia, council tax used for gold plated pensions etc, and all this before a penny of your council tax has been spent on what it was rightfully intended such as services, leisure, safety, housing, policing etc. It is state funded theft, no other name for it and what other country in the world would put up with it?

Time for the PFI to take over our villages, towns and cities, lets get in a professional Mayor, a sort of big and efficient CEO appointed by that towns MP. (1)

The MP subsequently up for election on the basis of what he/she does for the village/town/city and not on the basis of "er, well me dad voted labour like and so do I like, do ya know what I mean like"! (2)

The CEO in turn brings in his team based on a senior copper who is on secondment, Fire Officer, Planning Officer, Contracts Manager, Accountant, Estates Manager etc. This team would have been assembled at the time of the preferred bidder being announced, nothing strange in this KBR the Mowlem Group etc have done this for years and are pretty good at it, certainly better than Councillor ******, *********, ***********,***** of the County Borough of ****** making a pigs ear out of it year after year.

And, above all else we can finally ensure that the MP is accountable and hold him/her to account, lets see then how many Tory Boys, wet insipid liberals and the vile Jaqui Smiths and ghastly Harriott Harmons see the House of Commons as an assured gravy train.

Notes:

1. In the cases where town/cities have 4 MP's (Trumpton North, South, East and West) they to be reduced to only 1 who is accountable!

2. The MP seems to have evolved into a Governor which despite the USA concept of government is what he is supposed to be!
