In general i would say contacting MP's on the big issues is pointless as you normally get the party line or a barrage of misleading statistics but they can be helpful with problems that effect individuals.
I've found very much the same thing, certainly in respect of my current addresses, both in safe Conservative areas; efficient and informative replies. As to whether my various contacts with them actually achieved anything is of course a different matter!

I'm not so sure that contacting MPs on major issues is always a waste of time; the more people who do so the more that the government will realise that the public are concerned at what's going on. Well, at least they should realise!

There's a complete list of MPs and their websites and email addresses available here should anyone want it, and a plain text list of just email addresses ready to copy and paste into your email client for mass-mailings is available from here.

    General Election Results

    Dear Politic Community,

I have attached a copy of the General Election results for 2001 and 2005 below. I believe having a copy of the election results could prove useful in some statements, comments, analysis' or evaluations.

    Regards,
    Grant

Added Midas' post to this. If anyone else wishes to contribute links to useful sites, then please feel free. As in similar threads, please do not argue about issues - only discuss methods of research. Many thanks.

It should be added that LA was the original poster on this thread, but the merging system doesn't allow for change to post orders, unless I do a huge amount of shuffling.
