Question Ballot papers - "Leave the EU"

In other threads are several suggestions that voters should spoil their ballot paper by writing "Leave the EU" across it.
I wonder if they have thought this through.
Spoiled ballot papers are examined during the count, to try to ensure that where a vote is fair to be counted, it is.
I know this because I have been an officer at a vote count in an election.

What is the point of a spoiled paper with "Leave the EU" on it.
It just gives more credence to the parties that have received valid votes, and gives the idea that the voter who wrote the message was, shall we say, a bit of a crackpot.

I certainly won't be writing "Leave the EU" on my ballot paper next year, (nor will my proxy!).

So, what do the proponents of this idea think can be achieved by spoiling a ballot paper in any way?
Jesus said in John 3:17, "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

Many folks fought long and hard to obtain the right to vote and spoiling a ballot paper to make a point, which nobody's going to take a blind bit of notice of, seems (imo) a slap in the face to those who went before.

I wonder if those who do spoil their papers, would refuse to accept any tax deductions resulting from a rebate from Brussels (very unlikely I know).

    The front runners in any sweep on the number who would refuse a deduction are;

    Nil
    Zero
    B*gger all

    Pick a winner.

Spoiling your ballot paper is almost without exception a stupid idea and a waste of time. If you want to leave the EU vote UKIP, thats kind of their ONLY policy.

    Hi,

spoiling your ballot paper can be achieved with ease and is a very stupid idea - just vote for any of our main political parties LibLab€UkipCon none will help get us one iota closer to the exit!

Withold your mandate and write on your ballot LEAVE THE EU rather than just waste your vote on some venal, self seeking dishonest corrupt politician trying to peddle manifestos and policies without having the integrity to explain Westminster is an utter irrelevance as due to The €U's New Constitution our Government is now in Brussels and Westminster is just a rubber stamping office for the €U.

    Regards,
    Greg L-W.

Sorry, Greg, I don't really get it.
The voting paper will just go in the bin, and no-one will give a monkeys what was written on it.
You may as well stay at home.

    Hi,

few understand that a spoilt ballot paper is one marked with a vote for a venal and dishonest politician.

By voting for these people you are by definition granting them not just a mandate but legitimacy.

I do not believe that there is EVER a wrong time to do the right thing.

Labour & Tory votes are in the main weighed - LibDim and their dedication to being ruled by the undemocratic €U & the Greens who are both mad and dishonest have their votes counted. No one with any shred of morality or belief in the principled values of these United Kingdoms as they refuse to renounce their roots in the white supremacist movement of America which has so delighted in the entertainment of murder where they have slaughtered some 4-5,000 young men for the crime of being black.

€Ukip has in 16 years befouled the concept of EUroRealism achieving the sum total of absoluterly nothing to move these United Kingdoms one iota towards leaving the EU and have now allied themselves in a Pan EU Political Party grouping which is pro EU and is racist, xenophobic, anti Jewish, sexually intollerant extremists who advocate violence.

I sir shall write on my Ballot:
    LEAVE THE EU
and unlike others will have cast an honest democratic vote for that which I believe in - a concept my ancestors strove to ensure I had the right to enjoy.

I have no fear of being THE ONLY individual in Britain who acted in absolute integrity.

May I also remind you that the agents and candidates of every party and none will scrutinise the Ballot papers which are not spoilt by putting a cross against a politician.

Each independent vote will be individually scrutinised by all - I hope there will be an ever growing number of people who refuse to spoil their vote and write the truth on it.

Since it is a general election where ALL votes are irrelevant as Westminster no longer makes law merely rubber stamps it may I suggest you join me and do the right thing and write on your ballot paper:
    LEAVE THE EU

    Regards,
    Greg L-W.
