God bless you please Mrs Robinson

This borders on the most bizarre political story ever:

Mrs Robinson, wife of the first minister and politician in her own right decided that it would be a really good idea to get into a sexual relationship with the son of a dead friend who happened to be forty years her junior.

At the same time she was happily espousing the morals that the god fearing population would hold (like hating homosexuals and screwing people young enough to be your grandson).

It gets a little complicated here, but here is how I have it...Mrs Robinson (try not to snigger folks) got two property developers to write cheques to our young lothario each for 25,000....then she demanded 5,000 of that in cash for herself. Apparently, altruism is a little costly these days).

The young man in question started a restaurant and was on the road to doing ok when Mrs Robinson felt that due to bad servicing from the young man, she was entitled to 20,000 to cover her debts and 25,000 to her sister in laws church to make up for her transgressions.

And the developers? One died and his estate wasn't interested and the other would have quite liked his investment repaid to himself rather than the dim tart married to the first minister who can't keep her spending down or her knickers up.

Suddenly after confessing to her husband nine months ago and attempting suicide, yet continuing afterwards she is too ill to account for herself now the details are public!

Lets hope Jesus loves her more than she will know - because frankly she disgusts me

Disgusting? You bet. Unusual? Only because it's a woman pol. It stands out because, in this case, it's a woman politician and not a man. Examined, she did nothing that countless male pols haven't done. Remove her name and sex from the story and it sounds all too familiar, unfortunately. I don't mean that as justification, it obviously is unjustifiable. When I dissect the thing I have trouble figuring which part of the 'affair' is most disgusting.

What remains to be seen is if and how she seeks redemption. Perhaps she will choose the route John Profumo chose but if history is any guide, I doubt it.
I wonder why the things that should be so simple, so natural... like loving someone and letting them see into your heart... should require so much courage?

Just deal with the facts, cool, calm and collected, then arrest her, remand her in custody, try her and throw away the key.
Forget the, "I'm disgusted" and "he's too young for her", there are laws to deal with this, let the Police do their job.
Goodbye Mrs Robinson, have fun in prison. You could be someone else's bitch inside.
Jesus said in John 3:17, "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

She is apprently going to stand down next week, but one thing I think is great is the young man decided to sell a halfshare in the restaurant and paid £20k each to the developers (one of which is dead and the estate said it was a gift, but he did it anyway) and will pay pack the other 5k within a few months - she has to be responsible for the five grand she took in cash.

I like the way that young man works!

Meanwhile the first minister looks like he helped her hide what she did...I have some sympathy...not much though

He's doing the right thing now, as regards the money, which does not excuse the fact that he slept with another man's wife.

    Hi,

and where do you place a Judgemental Full House?

With regard to Mrs. Robinson I trust her daughter will not emerge with a Simon & Garfunkel record under arm and a natural affinity for Dustin Hoffman now in his dottage!

When a young girl is predated by and elderly man it is a matter of great opprobrium, yet when the rolls are reversed in age and gender it is a matter of snickerring and prurience - yet I understand in such relationships the young man is frequently as damaged.

That it is a condition prevellent in the body politic is indisputable as few have so little work to do for so much money - that this woman holds 3 salaried public offices makes a nonsense of the structure and there must be something of the 'because I can' that enters into the relationship.

Sadly all too often it would seem pederasty is a perk of Government employ - one need only consider the behaviour of Mandelson, Brown, Duncan, Blair, Trotter and their ilk in their arrogant abuse of office. May I suggest reading the Kinkorra Boys School Inquiry, Waterhouse lost in care, Cullen's corrupted inquiry into Dunblane Massacre, Details of QVBS, Blair's political agent (now in prison for serial rape of children), Ron Davies and many more.

Then of course the Plaid Politician who well into his sixties succumbed to his own excesses whilst exploiting a young girl of 16 in Newport.

At least Jack Profumo was involved with well paid and well rewarded prostitutes in a private home. Sex looms large for all too many politicians consider the stupidity of John Major, Edwina Slurry, Nigel Farage, Godfrey Bloom and many more such inadequates - why this sad need to follow their d**ks into every depravity and betrayal they can find? Well because they can!

    Greg L-W.

Very good! http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-basic/lol.gifdepends, 3 queens and two Aces - on a boat going to hell according To Iris (may have tried too hard there?).
    Full story here btw.

In her defence he was 19 and I'm pretty sure that when an older man "predates" a young yet legally adult girl they are patted on the back! I have never liked Iris Robinson, I very much dislike her take on homosexuality, but it is not the fact she had an affair with a young (yet legally old enough) man that should bother us, now if he had been a female that would be scandal, but the abuse of her position in power!

I have this strange feeling she has a split hand and hers and Peter Robinson's are both going to be busted flushes by the time the full hand is dealt!

So they may be but not by me! That my infinitely better half is some 16 years younger than I she was of an age and maturity that made the relationship a decision not predation some 25 years ago!

I agree - however it does seem that nowadays politics is largely about the abuse of power - such that promises of referendum can be made and abrogated, votes can be taken and forced to be repeated if unsatisfactory to the corrupt politicians, decisions can be made to PRINT money to cover up for incompetence - Iris may have blossomed late but for a politician with 3 elected and salaried offices £50K seems small beer for her to have bought sex with a young lad - It was NOT public money but money fraudulently obtained from her two marks - without an official complaint to the police by either party there would SEEM to be no case to answer in criminal terms.

However I believe the Robinsons will require a Joker each to win their hand over the next few days - I was tempted to say had Iris used her hand more wisely she might have spared those at the table such embarrassment but realised it might be misconstrued!

    Greg L-W.

Re: God bless you please Mrs Robinson

We should all realise that Mrs Robinson is a British Member of Parliament. This means that a simple unspecific apology and a decision to stand down at the next General Election, will earn her the full and very generous pension rights of an MP, a cash bonus due to MPs who retire at a General Election, and probably a well paid non-job with a quango, just like all the other corrupt British MPs who are not standing at the next election.

Re: God bless you please Mrs Robinson

Well, Mrs Robinson has disappeared into oblivion. Hardly surprising due to her stupidity. If she really thought that in Belfast she would be able to carry on a relationship with ANY man and not be found out, she is really stupid. Apart from the fact that she was so well known, the security services do not go about with their eyes closed, especially where politicians are concerned. If you have looked at the expenses racked up by BOTH her and her husband, you would have every right to be angry bearing in mind people have a fair idea just how often they were seen in the House of Commons.
