Just suppose, for a moment, that the political climate in the UK and the hype and hyperbole around this current election lead to meaningful electoral reform.

How would the parties look in, say, five years time?

My gut feeling is that, liberated from the need to capture the 'centre ground' under FPTP, the parties would feel able to return or at least get closer to their ideological roots, and we might be able to see more than a Rizla-paper's gap between the parties.

Would that be a good thing...or a bad thing?
