This has really shocked me I'm afraid and yes, I suppose people only have themselves to blame. Aren't we all guilty of feeling complacent though, and living a little beyond our means when times are good?

Yes we are probably all guilty of living beyond our means, but we have been led by lax controls set in place by government, and even worse continuing to do so when times were not good. The days of reckoning are coming fast!
