    Westminster's got talent

YESTERDAY the powers that be at the London Underground held auditions for buskers wanting to play at tube stations across the nation’s capital.
Amongst the would-be musicians were several members of parliament hoping to supplement their meagre salaries and expenses with a few bob in their hats.
    I wonder what they sang?
Little Dave Cameron and Clogger Cleggy may have dueted I got you babe, the Miliband of brothers could have tried the interminable Anything you can do - I can do better and then Wee Georgie Osborne, complete in one-man-man outfit, with his inimitable version of The Wall Street shuffle? Not to be outdone Vince Cable would then have topped the lot with his, unusually for a busker, conjuring trick in which he makes the pound in his audience’s pocket or purse completely vanish never to appear again.
No doubt, the opposition could have supplied a choir to give the unfortunate judging panel a spirited version of No hopers, jokers and rogues whilst the coalition front bench, not to be outdone, would have belted out that old favourite We are the champions.
As a finale, the Welsh Wizard, you know that funereal-looking bloke who didn’t know the words of Land of our fathers, would have brought tears to the eye of even the most cynical of assessors with his plaintive version of The fool on the hill.
All-in-all a never-to-be-forgotten show. Let’s hope it comes to a station near you soon.

This brought a wry Sunday morning smile to my jaded lips! I thought I was the cynic! You missed out Alec Salmond with the 'Great Pretender'.

    Hi,

indeed but it frequently does - The Station is Radio 4 The Today Programme and on the TV it has a visual repeat titled Newsnight.

Neither programme has a compere more normally a dominatrix to hurry it along and publicise the views of the station at the expense of both the timetable and the veracity.

    Regards,
