I am cautiously optimistic that we may well be witnessing the start of a new style of politics in this country. 'Tribal' voters and those who base their views on ideology rather than practicality and pragmatism, will of course continue their emotive attacks on the leaders of this new movement.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised 'for the good of its victims' may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us 'for our own good' will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C.S. Lewis
Isn't there a situational aspect to this too which makes it easy NOW to be so apparently straight. When the announced policies and the negative elements (which there has to be) are questioned, perhaps the answers won't be so straight
'appear' being the operative word. Cameron is a more articulate showman and I think he will be adept at not answering questions whilst seeming to. I think those of us that follow will have to continually shake our heads free of the fairy dust, where Brown was so obvious we just tried to keep tally of whether he answered anything at all
