Warning over Public Sector Pay review

According to Sky news this morning:-

    5:20am UK, Monday June 21, 2010
    Andy Winter, Sky News Online
Public sector workers could be forced to pay more towards their pension funds after the Government announced a review of the schemes.

George Osborne has said John Hutton will review public sector pensions

Chancellor George Osborne has recruited former Labour cabinet minister John Hutton to urgently find ways of reducing the bill.

Ahead of Tuesday's emergency Budget, Cabinet ministers have repeatedly warned "unsustainable" rises in the costs of taxpayer-funded retirement packages would be curbed amid efforts to cut spending.
They seized on figures from the new Office of Budget Responsibility, which have suggested the bill could more than double to £9bn a year by 2015.
But trade unions have reacted angrily to the decision to target pensions - insisting the schemes were "affordable and sustainable".
And Labour accused ministers of using "misleading" statistics to justify the move.

You'd certainly hear it from me, although I doubt my ex-wife #1 would agree with you, being a quite senior Civil Servant

    Absolutely!

A magnificent opportunity to rein in public sector workers benefits which are now quite out of line with private industry!
