Following on from that the coalition propose a maximum of 15 months pay if made redundant; how many private sector companiers approach that?

These are the current statutory rates of redundancy pay for people working in private industry in the UK - source, Department for Business Skills & Innovation :
    • 0.5 week's pay for each full year of service where age during year less than 22
    • 1.0 week's pay for each full year of service where age during year is 22 or above, but less than 41
    • 1.5 weeks' pay for each full year of service where age during year is 41+
From which it's easy to calculate that even someone had worked for the same company for 40 years, they would only just qualify, and how many employees are there who could meet that requirement, especially without getting dangerously close to the age when impending retirement starts affecting redundancy payments.

Re: 90% of public sector workers have final salary pension schemes

It has been the policy of the previous labour government to make our economy more "competitive" ie bring in loads of immigrants used to wage slavery who wont strike if conditions are worsened and gradually dismantle the unions. Why? because labour is conservative , they are elitists , a part of the corperate system.

Employment agencies are the bain of the working man , they take your wages , make jobs difficult to get and if someone wants rid of you they can do it instantly , you could be working in a place years as a temp on minimum wage , no pension , unnable to get a mortgage , little NI contribution.

Employment agencies are another way the establishment has been able to wage enslave people through the backdoor and bypassing employment laws. This has enriched the elites, lobbyists and polititions and their benefactors. Pretending allowing this , payday loans , cash for gold and even scratch cards is in the public interest is an insult to peoples inteligence. The government is meant to protect people from advantage takers , but it is the advantage taker.

Look at this example of corruption involving barak o bama Defense official example of revolving door between governing, lobbying - CNN.com

I sincerely hope the coalition didn't suddenly announce reduced private pensions to appease civil servants; the obverse is the case it will only annoy non civil servants even more.
