    David Milliband criticises Brown's record

Charming; why the hell didn't he say so and react before now?

It was patently obvious within days of TB's departure that GB couldn't hack it; if David Milliband had acted then, his Labour party might still have been in power. What a dreadful thought!

Who really cares what labour say, it is all crap anyway. If they had a shred of remorse for the disaster they have created after 13 years of mismanagement they would resign from politics and join the real world.
If 'banana face' said the world was round I would want 50 billion expert opinions.

Re: David Milliband criticises Brown's record

At first glance I thought that this was just his attempt to separate himself from the NuLab failure but If you read his speech you can see he highlights the fact he was part of it. On closer inspection (alternative source) however it seems to have been a clever (although transparent and therefore not so) attempt to appeal to the everyman vote the coalition is relying on for it's existence. The last Labour leader who was a genius at that was Tony Blair, in my opinion Miliband's inevitable win as new leader will signal major disaster for Labour for a long time to come, I'd much prefer to see an actual human leading the party.
So the question remains: why didn't he (Milliband) take one of the many opportunities to oust Brown?
And as the old leftie I am this bit worries me: "In our concern with meeting people's needs we seemed to sever welfare from desert..."

This is a party which has put shakles on the legs of every working man in England, a party which has pandered to the Cit swindlers for no other reason than their own vanity, a party which so badly mismanaged every facet of government: a party which has no honour and, in every aspect of its dealings with its supporters, has proven to be nothing less than a fraudalent sinecure for money, lust and barefaced liars. There is nothing to resurrect in this decayed ideal and I would advise those who, are inveigled into supporting them, as I was, or paying them money, especially via the Unions, WHICH LIKE lABOUR ARE ROTTEN TO THE CORE, to remember that it is only going to be used as England's taxes were used: to allow pigs like prescott and screwballs like Brown to indulage their insane fantasies ..... No more Labour ever .... we have honest alternatives.

To be fair when you keep a party in power for that long you end up with a mess, be it left or right leaning.

What the conservatives did was tear themselves apart before they put themselves together as did labour before 'new labour'.

Mandy is playing a very clever game as he is helping to tear apart the party, while stressing that 'New Labour' is a 'state of mind' rather than the mechanics. He is trying to regain those who were originally wooed with a combination of 'all the bad men have gone' and the obvious discontent that we shall face in the next few years' and a little dollop of 'we will be a united straight party for the people'....and whats in it for him? He has made that clear too...He wants a decent place in the labour government he intends to get there.

What fascinates me is that labour moved into the centre territory to get elected and now Conservative and Labour policies are reversed! how fantastic to see that parties and politics are still changing.....because we, the people are always changing. We Cause that!
