    Britain's Debt the untold story

The true scale of Britain's national indebtedness was laid bare by the Office for National Statistics yesterday: almost £4 trillion, or £4,000bn, about four times higher than previously acknowledged.
It quantifies the burden that will be placed on future generations, and it is the ONS's first attempt to draw together the "off-balance-sheet" liabilities that have been accumulated by the state. The figures imply a huge "intergenerational transfer" – broadly in favour of today's "baby boomer" generation at the expense of younger people and future generations.
The debt primarily consists of the cost of public sector and state pensions, and of payments promised to private contractors under private finance initiatives. It far exceeds any of the figures so far published for the national debt, the largest current estimate for which is £903bn. That is projected to rise to £1.3trn by 2015.

    Sold into slavery
to say we've been sold down the river is an understatement What i would like to know is this what collateral was use to acquire such debt and where has it been acquired, I've always wondered why we don't seem to own anything. now it seems that it's the sold sign can be finally paraded for all to see,as i see it this makes use all slaves to this debt even the new Born's are now are now slaves, this debt is the final nail in our coffin as the men who hold the purse strings wield the power, thats the bankers then,
How much of this Dept Is legal,
Who is responsible for accruing such Dept,
If a business was run like this would it be legal,
Past governments must be held accountable, Once we find those accountable and must be seen as traitors and must be tried in a court of law for Treason.
This Dept could and should be found as illegal as no government can't sell it's people into slavery,as
    the people never consented
If this is found to be true all we must find when it was we went Bankrupt as this is the only way as i see we could accrue such level of debt.
this level of debt is unpayerable their fore illegal.
All it takes for evil to succeed is that good people do nothing
When men cease to believe in god, thay do not therefore believe in nothing ,thay then become capable of believing anything. G.K Chesterton
If you prick us, do we not bleed? if you tickle us, do we not laugh? if you poison us, do we not die? and if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?" William Shakespeare,
The cleverest thing the New World Order has done, is to convince mankind that It's a good thing to be enslaved.

Yeah another thing is that on top of that we have debt from world war one that the americans still havn't written off. BBC NEWS | UK | Magazine | What's a little debt between friends?
Unless "normal people" don't realise that government has been working with the bankers to create a fake communist milk cow state with the ruling junta grabbing all the wealth we are screwed. Tomorow we could just say , we won't pay it , after all we didnt see a penny of it anyway , I dont remember anyone handing me any money.
But dont worry the government has set up a police state and a media to convince us we are the richest people in the world , even though our pensioners freeze to death in the winter in their thousands.

Iceland voted not to pay the uk and holland £4.2 billion it had to cover when icesave collapsed due to a goldman sachs's (Tony Blair) derivatives fraud.

for such a nice populist there seems to be a lot of banks on that list

You have such a narrow and cynical view of the world it's almost unbelievable! You know nothing about me, what I read, what I invest in......

Rather than constantly making snide or unsubstantiated comments to things you don't understand or agree with, you'd be far better off widening your horizons and actually learning about that which you speak of, and realising that there's far more to life than believing every conspiracy theory that goes around.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised 'for the good of its victims' may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us 'for our own good' will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C.S. Lewis

Re: Britain's Debt the untold story

The idea in that Independent article seems to be that it's unfair to burden future generations with debt and that perhaps our taxation should be raised significantly to offset that burden.

I disagree. Although I imagine some of that debt is a bad investment I believe most of it is worthwhile in order to raise the standard of living higher than it would be without the tool of credit/debt.

But, I agree with the basic sentiment of the article that debt is too high and is now likely to become a burden than an asset.

Now I imagine the tact of governments to be to overdevelop the UK to maximize revenue. They will promote the practice of endless immigration to rapidly expand the tax paying population at the expense of quality of life for the poor, further diminishing the value of the debt.

i find i very odd that that people are not interested in this thread their is plenty of proof to be had on the Internet, even if you don't understand most of it, most people if thay think about it know when thay read the information most of it is based on fact. But never the less it sound to crazy to be true other-than that we have a dilemma even if it is true how the hell do we deal with this sort of situation as most of us have never known anything else, most are scared mostly of losing something that thay never heard of I've heard many people say that thay feel like slaves to there dept but not in the literal sense but now I'm beginning to think there might be something in it.Yes it is Quite possible that It's true I'm intrigued to say the least to the point that I'm doing more research as it is very important to me and my family so may i suggest anyone who has a family should consider researching it, at the very least you will be informed at he worst if you don't you could lose everything.

and pehaps someone could remember ho to debate the subject matter at hand ?

Much of the public don't understand financial matters and leave it to someone else to determine the best solution. Buying everything on credit had become the norm for the population at large so the government thought they would try it unnoticed!

Now we know more of the truth, or do we?

Re: Britain's Debt the untold story

The banks made a conscious decision to sell people houses they couldn't afford because they knew it would drive house prices up and increase the value of their assets as it did , for a while. Now they have taken the profit for years , when the bottom falls out we have to pay the difference. Thats without even talking about the globalist banks and derivatives , even this public knowledge is proof of the government de-regulation benefitting the banks at the expense of the poor.

Even now the government let the banks invest the bailout money in lucrative property deals instead of lend to business as it was supposed to , if you are telling me the gov are retards and they didnt know they would do that your mad. They are not stupid please remember that , they say they make these mistakes to cover up the criminalty.

Most is a very large number I would say the most your referring to own a house or flat and most have to carry some sort of debt on there shoulders then you have students who have debt even before they can afford a house,so the most you refer to should be most do understand just don't realise the rules are just the same, only the numbers are bigger. Fact is sometimes stranger than fiction.

A man who has no debt is a rare thing indeed I Know only a Few they own their own houses own car Pay everything with cash. Thay carry no risk of losing everything,Until they fall ill or die that is and the government will do their level best to take whatever they have left off them. Ever wondered why we have a twenty five year Mortgage retire at fifty five if your lucky, finish paying off your mortgage if your lucky???? then, if your ill you lose your house at some point to pay for medical bills, if your lucky you reach a grand old age, with very little to show for it. But then it don't stop their does it if you married still you leave everything in your will, the your wife or kids the kids will receive what remains if your lucky, it should never be enough to leave your wife in servitude, but wait you wife gets ill at some point and the rest of the money you left for your wife,s old age gets most if not all, sucked up by medical bills,If the kids are lucky they get the remnants from the estate, maybe 5,000 each, no much for 55 years hard toil is it.
For this generation most if not all have been introduced to debt at an early age for instance Mother and Farther have a mortgage and most children intend to buy a House at some point but now we have an issue of affordability not many can afford the prices of houses these days can they?? as their is plenty in their twenty and thirty,s still at home or had a mortgage but could no longer pay it. So its back to mum and dad,or loss of job could be the reason , But the end result will almost be the same the debt still remains, probably Black listed as a debtor and the continues to work,if he's lucky to get the monkey of his back,Probably never to get rid off his debt, and even if he manages to rid himself of his debt he will probable never own a house , at best rent the irony is if he rents his rent will probably be as much as a mortgage even if he manages to rent an council house which is very unlikely being single or just the fact he lives with his mum and dad he's not seen as a priority he has a better chance as a immigrant or asylum seeker or a single mother but that's another story. For most people who read this thread it will have a familiar ring to it. it should for most people are in this position.
The point is this we arrive on this earth without Debt, Now days we can't live without debt what with a mortgage, and all the other debt that goes with life today. You leave this world were much the same with nothing or at least very little is left to your family not much for a lifetimes work is it. Through all of this debt we as normal foke are left with little else after we consider all the other bills we have to pay just to survive even if we have a pension their is no guaranty it will help in our old age. Most people are left with just enough to sustain them with the odd treat every now and then but very rarely will it allow them to become wealthy or even get out of poverty,So we remain poor no matter how hard we try even the mortgage/rent keeps us poor and any other Debt, so we just sustain ourselves in the belief that owning a house will get us out of poverty when in fact it keeps us in poverty as we can't even earn enough to own our own property as you see it,s taken away at every opportunity I see it as to tantamount to slavery as in the end all we are left with is just enough to sustain our very resistance.

What that means fubar is that I believe the revelations in the newspaper article are still only the tip of the iceberg.

Some commentators have been speculating that we were close to the IMF being called in to run our affairs; the coalition's actions so far have stabilised the situation admirably, but I am not sure whether more of the excesses of the last government may have yet to surface?
