£100 billion is cost of Parliament's support for Budgets of Scotland, Wales and NI

Listening to Radio 5 Live this morning a caller made the statement that the cost of propping up the devolutionist parlaiments in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland comes to £100 billion annually. It was stated that these figures are in the public domain as published by the Office for Budget Responsibility.

The OBR website is currently woefully devoid of reports on this subject as far as I can tell; anyone else able to confirm the real costs of existing devolution?

I cant confirm the costs but centralising Goverment and abolishing the welsh, scottish, Northern Irish parliaments and the remaining regional assembly in London seems a pretty good idea to me. The whole labour and european union shambles of de centralising power was a joke that cost the tax payer billions. It was all a cunning ploy by the socialists to create a client state.

I certainly see the decentralisation as being a way to give people independance without actually giving them independance. The way they do this is by central governments power to give or take away certain budgets. The taxes for these budgets are collected in Northern Ireland , Wales and Scotland but the power to give or take away is in england. This allows the british government leverage over its little cousins. This is all to obvious in Northern Ireland with its policing partnerships and budgets. The ball is in the MLAs court and if they don't want to play they won't get the budget ( and their ridiculous paychecks) Gerry Adam's expenses 08/09 were £142,632 and that is given he doesn't attend parliament , this is aside from his £30,000 a year salary for not attending parliamnet. Also there have in the past been some "community grants" which he benefited from. But you can see why they play ball nowadays.

I would also not like to be paying the bill of keeping him under surveillance. Gerry Adams's driver was British spy - Times Online

It's well possible that the two quoted above are agents of sorts as well...very valuable assets to British intelligence and that can be seen in their lavish expenses. Not that long ago Gerry was travelling the 6 counties in a helicopter!
