United Kingdom Politics Having secured a third term, we will fulfil our promise to renew our country and take Britain forward to a better future not back to a failed Tory past. Our continuing success depends on our continuing to pursue a new Labour agenda as a modern progressive party. We will focus on three crucial areas: the economy, modernising public services, tackling crime and asylum; building on what we have achieved to make Britain better since coming to office in 1997

REVENUE INTEREST OUTWEIGHS THIS!

On 30 May 2008, the BBC told us this:

Quote:
In the 1950s the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Harold Macmillan, put the financial benefits of cigarettes over the nation's health, records show.

Then health minister Robert Turton advised the 1956 Cabinet to 'constantly inform the public of the facts' of the link between smoking and lung cancer... Mr Turton told ministers... the 'statistical picture is clear'...
But Mr MacMillan, who was prime minister from 1957 to 1963, said the revenue from smoking was too valuable:

Quote:
Expectation of life 73 for smoker and 74 for non-smoker. (73 for smoker? - Untrue surely!) Treasury think revenue interest outweighs this. Negligible compared with risk of crossing a street, he added.
BBC NEWS | Health | Macmillan ignored smoking warning

"We kill you - you pay for it"!

Says the Earl of Stockton.

THIS is what gave us WWI; globalism; consumerism; WWII; the immigrants; political correctness; dumbing-down; drugging-up; multiculturalism; Black Wednesday; spin; Iraq; a disappearing Antarctic; 4.5 million surveillance cameras; sub-prime and white flight on a vast scale.

And still the lemming votes for his MacMillan!

As the wise man said:

Quote:
If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got!
Quote:
How do you kill a Brit?
Slowly. As he's coughing up.[/b]
