I'm not particularly anti royalist, in fact I quite like the Queen but I feel the national anthem is outdated it's more suited to a bygonne day when the monarch was head of state rather than a figurehead.

I propose two alternatives to the current national anthem:

a. I vow to thee my country.

b. Jerusalem.

Either of the above would (imo) make a superb national anthem, personally I prefer the first option however they are both very nationalistic and patriotic and for that reason they will never be our national anthem.

In this politically correct society they would both "offend" minority groups, and that would never be tollerated.
