United Kingdom Politics Having secured a third term, we will fulfil our promise to renew our country and take Britain forward to a better future not back to a failed Tory past. Our continuing success depends on our continuing to pursue a new Labour agenda as a modern progressive party. We will focus on three crucial areas: the economy, modernising public services, tackling crime and asylum; building on what we have achieved to make Britain better since coming to office in 1997

freedom is an unknown quantity at this point
real democracy

The House of Commons is supposed to hold the Executive, i.e. the Prime Minister, in check but in reality it is his poodle, thanks to party politics. We should therefore directly elect our Prime Minister as the French and the Americans do their President. Legislation should be introduced by the public by, for example, the Downing St petitions website, with the (20 or 30) most popular being put forward yearly to be ratified by a public vote. The PM would therefore be a public servant whose job would be to implement the people’s laws rather than make them and there would be no need for either the House of Commons or the House of Lords. sign the petition and give gordon a kick up the *rse! petitions.number10.gov.uk/abolishMPs
