| Labour councillor in Hartlepool on wife assault charge Hartlepool Borough councillor Trevor Rogan, was arrested after his Ukrainian wife phoned Hartlepool Police claiming her husband had assaulted her. Councillor Rogan is due to appear before Hartlepool Magistrates Court tomorrow charged with common assault. A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: "We received a report of an alleged incident in John Howe Gardens at 2.20am on Sunday... ...The couple's two-year-old daughter is believed to have been in the detached house in John Howe Gardens, West View, at the time of the alleged incident... ...Coun Rogan has represented Labour on the council since May 2000 - after gaining a majority of 200 - and is a member of several committees... ...He was last re-elected for the Brus ward on Thursday, June 8, in a by-election that had been postponed following the death of Liberal Democrat candidate Thomas Snowdon, 73, on April 7.
