| British Muslims Burn Flag In Rushdie Row Crazed British Muslims called for the Queen to “go to hell” as they campaigned against Salman Rushdie’s knighthood. Flags of St George were burned as a screaming mob in London hurled abuse over the decision to grant the Satanic Verses author his gong. In the Pakistan capital of Islamabad, protesters burned effigies of the Queen and Rushdie and a group of traders offered a 10million rupee bounty – £125,000 – to anyone who killed the novelist. The London mob, many hiding their faces behind Mujahideen-style scarves, waved placards and chanted: “May God curse the Queen” and “Death to Tony Blair” outside the Central Mosque in Regent’s Park. One campaigner shouted: “Brothers and sisters, make no mistake, the British Government and the Queen are your enemies. Can you smell the coffee yet Britain?........
