According to an official statement of our Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) the cause of the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in our county of Surrey is the disease virus escape from a research laboratory, located not far from a farm with sick animals.
Indeed, virus strain, which is marked 01 BFS67, is rarely found in the natural environment, but it is often used for production of vaccines in our research laboratories. I know it exactly as I have worked at some of these laboratories not far from London. And I experience firsthand about the conditions of security control, prevailed there. It is a darn shame for a former DEFRA head, Mr. Miliband, who has disorganized the work of this department in the field of organizing constant security inspections at such extra-hazardous objects! And in reward for it he’s received a new and more responsible post of our Foreign Secretary! I can imagine what we’ll have as a result of his “work” in the sphere of developing our relations with other countries. A case in point is recent deterioration of our relations with Russia.
As to his previous results I should remind you that the latest outbreak of the disease in Britain cost us 10 million destroyed heads of cattle and $16 billion of pecuniary injury for our economy… |
