United Kingdom Politics Having secured a third term, we will fulfil our promise to renew our country and take Britain forward to a better future not back to a failed Tory past. Our continuing success depends on our continuing to pursue a new Labour agenda as a modern progressive party. We will focus on three crucial areas: the economy, modernising public services, tackling crime and asylum; building on what we have achieved to make Britain better since coming to office in 1997

Did you hear something about long queues at Northern Rock’s branches?

Did you hear something about long queues at Northern Rock’s branches and difficulties with its website? It is all along of bank’s inability to deliver funds to savers who wish to withdraw. And how after it should we have confidence in the stability of our British banking system? See for yourself! On Saturday queues outside the bank’s branches in Sheffield and Golders Green, in north London grew so large (as it was reported by BBC) that police officers were deployed for crowd control. In Kingston, for instance, over 300 people waited to take out their money! I tell you more. When our authorities, including the chairman of the Treasury Select Committee, J. McFall, call upon us not to push the panic button, it means that, in fact, financial and then economic crisis is not far off in this country. It may strike as paradoxical for you, but such banking crises inure to the benefit of our present government. You see, it gives a chance for our authorities to impose a heavy financial burden of military expenditure for Iraq’s and Afghanistan’s campaigns on ordinary British people, more simply, on you and me…
But the released capital will be enough for further developing UK military-industrial complex, which should certainly be ready for possible military campaign against Iran, too. And in this particular case Brown’s Cabinet imitates recent acts of our American allies. There is no secret that Bush administration always solves economic problems for the account of monetization of deficits and additional financing in defense business to the detriment of US population’s interests…
