| United Kingdom Politics Having secured a third term, we will fulfil our promise to renew our country and take Britain forward to a better future not back to a failed Tory past. Our continuing success depends on our continuing to pursue a new Labour agenda as a modern progressive party. We will focus on three crucial areas: the economy, modernising public services, tackling crime and asylum; building on what we have achieved to make Britain better since coming to office in 1997 |

| Creating a manifesto I’ve always been fascinated with scribing my own manifesto, so I thought this thread could be used for people to create their own manifesto. Now be sensible here and don’t write a seven billion word manifesto. Best of luck, Pique. 1) My top one would be to deny all immigrants’ citizenship to the United Kingdom. It sounds BNP, but it really isn’t. I’m in full support of long term visa’s being handed to immigrants who enter the country, but I am against handing someone nationality because they were not conceived on British soil. I’m also in favour of revoking Visa’s if immigrants commit serious crime and crime worthy of a prison sentence. If an immigrant is deemed surplus to requirements they will be denied a further Visa extension and deported when their Visa expires. 2). Life means life, this term is not only completely misleading, it’s also a lenient punishment for people who commit serious crime. Citizens who commit serious crime such as child abuse, rape, murder, sex trafficking, gangsterism will all leave prison in a wooden box. Heavy fines and long term community service orders will be handed to petty criminals. Crime pays in Britain and it’s about time criminals pay the ultimate penalty for being a bane on society. 3). The Environment, is a hot topic for discussion and as I am an avid Conservationist who has a keen and deep and undying interest and love for the gorgeous globe, Green issues and taxes would be on my agenda, replacing council tax and the congestion charge. I’m in favour of greener spaces, less construction and I am in favour of keeping the traditional British countryside in pristine conditions and placing trees down every street, turning brown belt land in green spaces for people to enjoy the gorgeous British nature in all its glory. I favour nuclear energy as opposed to wind farms that provide little energy and are a complete eye sore to those people who open their curtains in the morning and find a mass of steel blocking their view. The environment doesn’t just define the natural elements of Britain, our urban areas for the best part are run down and shoddy and mass regeneration is needed of the worst looking places in the country. This brings me onto the next point. 4) More sovereignty to Local councils for local issues. Westminster seems to be losing sovereignty, and my next proposal seems to be separating yet more sovereignty from Westminster, but allow me to explain. I’d give local councils more sovereignty to implement legislation that will benefit their respective local areas. For instance, if one borough needs more green spaces compared to another borough, it makes little sense in Westminster calling for green spaces up and down the country. If a small town in Coventry needs more green spaces and a place in Sussex doesn’t, it makes little sense to implement policies which only effective half or a quarter of the populace. With this, I’d scrap the De-evolution that New Labour disastrously bought in. If Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales want sovereignty the people of these countries have can a referendum to opt out of the Union on their own accord. If this is not the will of the people, those people should be governed from Westminster. I’d also scrap the mayor of London role. We have a Prime Minister, and a Government to implement policy and seeing as the Houses of Parliament are located in London, it makes little sense to have a mayor and the mayor of London role becomes surplus once you hand local councils more sovereignty. 5) Lower tax band for the poor and higher for the rich. Governments for far too long tax the poor to subside the rich and I feel this unfair, so I’d raise the tax band for the rich and lower it for the poor, that way ensuring the poor aren’t subsiding the rich and I’d also lower the tax band for the working individuals who bend over backwards just to keep the economy stable. Tax cuts would be implemented when available, stealth taxes are not unfair, and they also get constantly squandered on schemes that people do not want e.g. the Olympic Games, the London Eye, the Millennium Dome. I would provide an adequate and basic NHS, full of doctors and less administration staff who are a cancer to the National Health Service. I’d also provide a basic public service network in every town and city up and down the country, whilst leaving people with enough to opt for other means of greener transport and private healthcare if needed. 6) Academic and Vocational education. A new school system would be introduced from the age of eleven. A test will replace the SATs test to determine whether a child is more academically or vocationally advanced. The child will then be advised to enter either school based on their results. For example, if a child is academically bright he/she will be advised to attend an academic school and vice versa. This is to prevent truanting from schools, and children being left behind in high school and subsequently leave school without any options of going forth in their life. 7) Referendum on the EU – I’m an Euro sceptic, and I know many other people are too and many Britons are firmly against the European Union and therefore if the referendum comes back with a resounding rejection of the European Union then Britain will pull out. 8) Military defence – I am a firm believer that Britain has a duty to ensure the world remains a peaceful place and it is Britain’s duty to safe guard the motherland which is why I propose a higher level of funds to be directed towards our defence instead of gimmicks such as the Olympics’, the London Eye and donating aid and funds to the poorest regions of the world. I’ll post more when I can be bothered. |
