    Lightbulb Something disturbing...

I just learnt this today, did you know that every single person on the list to succeed the President lives and works in Washington DC, so a well aimed Nuclear strike could completely wipe out the US government in one go?

The US would detect a missle on radar and get the President to either a bunker or Air Force 1.

But not a man with a sports bag walking along the street, or a truck parked somewhere. Properly built, they have the same force, if not the same yield.

Jeebus, you should be so lucky, imagine getting all the hucksters, vermin and cheats at once, you could start again, and hopefully exercise a bit of nous when electing people. Oh brave new world, that has such people in it.....

Surely you're not suggesting that it would be good for The Messiah, Barack Obama, to die in a nuclear blast. Racist.

This is actually similar to the concept behind the book The Sum of All Fears. It took place in Denver at a Super Bowl, I believe. It also is similar in some ways to the book Executive Orders. In that book a plane is used to attack the capitol building in D.C. during the state of the union address. Both books are written by Tom Clancy, and are very good.

I shall have to look into those for some winter reading, seeing as James Herbert can't be botherd to hurry up!

I agree, both excellent books. Well worth reading.

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us 'for our own good' will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C.S. Lewis
