NRA Annual Meeting: No Guns Allowed

Is this delicious irony or what?

I know it's the Huffington but can't find better source at the moment.

To think that you'd have to suffer the indignity of going through a metal detector to hear someone proselytize about your right to carry your gun anywhere you want is easy irony

Meh. It's really just a civil liability issue for the city that owns the convention center. I blame this more on the ambulance-chasing attorneys more than anyone. If anyone were ever to be shot in the Convention Center, regardless of whose convention it was, there'd be a line of lawyers waiting to sue the city (deepest pockets, ya know) for allowing guns onto their property. There's any easy fix for this though. If I were King, I'd simply enact a law stating that no property owner could be held liable for the criminal acts or negligence of another person while on their property. That will never happen here though. We have a warped legal system where blame is usually assigned to the person with the most money.

Where is the irony. The NRA is mostly made up of law abiding gun owners who believe in the rule of law. State law and the convention center rules say no guns. So what's the big deal?

Nothing to see here folks, just a dead dog and a hubcap. Move along, you're holding up traffic.
I wonder why the things that should be so simple, so natural... like loving someone and letting them see into your heart... should require so much courage?
