An open letter to President Barack Obama

Sent to me by a friend in the USA, and although a year or so old now, perhaps more relevant today than when first written.

An open letter from Lou Pritchett, the former Vice President of Procter & Gamble, to President Barack Obama.

Lou Pritchett is one of corporate America 's true living legends- an acclaimed author, dynamic teacher and one of the world's highest rated speakers. Successful corporate executives everywhere recognize him as the foremost leader in change management.. Lou changed the way America does business by creating an audacious concept that came to be known as "partnering." Pritchett rose from soap salesman to Vice-President, Sales and Customer Development for Procter and Gamble and over the course of 36 years, made corporate history.

AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

    Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America' crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaugh's, Hannity's, O'Reillys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

    Lou Pritchett

This letter was sent to the NY Times but they never acknowledged it. Big surprise. Since it hit the internet, however, it has had over 500,000 hits.

I hope he got it, that was one well written letter.

I enjoyed every last bit of it.

Honestly, this letter almost made me cry. I never supported Obama (McCain, either, for that matter). I feel really, really bad for those who supported him when his programs start making it hard for them to even live. He is everything this letter says...and worse. Of course, that's only my personal opinion. There's no offense meant toward supporters. I've been wrong before and very much hope I am wrong on this one.

It is not surprising that a country that would twice elect a lying draft dodger like Clinton to office, cast more votes for a genius like Al Gore and have 50 something million people vote for a traitor like John Kerry would elect a worthless piece of crap like Obama.

The only thing he has done as president has been to raid the US Treasury and give the money to his sleazy special interest groups. Groups like the Ebonics speaking population, the filthy unions, the environmental wackos, the Feminazis, the queers, the socialists, the abortionists and the stupid college kids. You know who I am talking about don’t you? The typical Democrat voter.

I'm suprised that someone who is clearly as established, intelligent and respected as Mr Pritchett, would consider the drivel that comes out of the mouths of the likes of Hannity and Beck worth mentioning, let alone listening to.

I think the alternative in 2008 would have been a lot scarier for the rest of the world. Can you imagine how laughable the US would look to the rest of the world with Sarah Palin as the Presdents side kick? Can you imagine how dangerous that would have been?

I don't think you were endorsing this letter Midas, because frankly I would have expected you to see through that kind of bulls***.
So unproductive has conservatism been in producing a general conception of how a social order is maintained that its modern votaries, in trying to construct a theoretical foundation, invariably find themselves appealing almost exclusively to authors who regarded themselves as liberal. - F.A. No, I wasn't endorsing it, although factually a lot of it is correct. However some of the conclusions drawn by Lou Pritchett are stretching it somewhat; he of all people should know that you don't necessarily have to have done something yourself to have an understanding of it, especially if you have an army of bureaucrats to guide you along the way. He should also be well aware that a few steps down one path doesn't a complete journey make, which seems to be his implication in a number of his comments!

It is true because most of the people in the US are scared of Obama nowadays for some if not all of the reasons posted in the letter. His disapproval rate is very high and his party is projected to be pushed out of power in Congress in the mid term elections by a landslide. Many Democrats are even running on a platform to deny association with Obama.

It was a mistake to elect the socialist asshole. He ran on a centralist platform and too many stupid Americans believed that Obama would govern from the Center. Since America has seen what Obama is really doing to the country and America is basically a conservative nation Obama and his filthy Democrat associates will lose power in the next two elections.

Somebody once said that Democrats hold a very useful place in American politics. Whenever the Democrats get control of the government it shows the American people why they should not ever elect Democrats. We need that lesson from time to time or else we forget what freedom is really all about.

There is only one way for Obama to get reelected. He will never get reelected by his record because Americans hate what he has done to this country but if the Republicans take over Congress then Obama may sneak by in 2012. The reason is that Americans like to have split government because then nothing is ever done and that is perceived as a good thing.

True; perhaps Obama was simply the marginally 'better' of two pretty abysmal candidates and their running partners!

That letter is the biggest pile of sustance-deprived tosh I think I've ever read. And I've debated flash on matters of religion. I don't care if he's supposed to be some sort of living legend, he's quite clearly an idiot. To summarise, it may as well have said:

You scare me because I don't understand you, and down here in my ol' neck of the woods we treat anything outside of the norm with fear, distrust and suspicion.
Obama inherited this mess your country is in, its like the Neo-Con Artists drove that pick up truck into the ground, never serviced it, stripped it for parts and then when its on its last legs threw the key to the black guy and said "you deal with it".

So much of that letter is just beyond retarded. This guy was a VP of a big company? First of all "wind mills" are an actual concept, they do not need to be enclosed in inverted commas like referring to an abstract form of metaphysics. Same with "class" and "extortion". Then, and this is basic grammar, apostrophes are used after a noun to signify a possesive, not like this

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaugh's, Hannity's, O'Reillys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.
in fairness though, he obviously knew something was up, stopping that practice halfway through a sentence.

And 500,000 hits? Thats no sign of qaulity, we had a Scotttish gremlin sing some song on TV and get millions of hits on youtube fella. And she was full on mental.

As for the content itself, its the usual half-baked right wing reactionary claptrap. Amazing how at one point he criticises Obama for "blaming others"! Need I remeind people of the pick up truck again? Honestly the whole thing is so bad I feel like I need to clean my PC screen

That is not exactly right. At least not the way you are alluding.

Obama inherited the failure of liberal policies and since he is a Liberal that voted and supported for the Community Reinvestment Program and bloated budgets and entitlement programs he is just as much to blame as anybody. He is a big proponet of the programs that got this country into so much trouble.

There were about 25 years of great economic growth and low unemployment prior to Obama.

What Obama is trying to do is blame the more conservative party for the failure of Liberal policies. He does things like that because he never takes responsibility for his destructive Left Wing policies.

The Conservatives have some blame because when they were in charge of the government they didn’t repeal the entitlement programs and the government pressure on the lending institutes to require they give loans to low class people that had no intentions or means to pay it back. However, make no mistake about it; it was the Liberals that came up with these destructive programs and Obama is the King of the Liberals nowadays seeing that Kennedy has been sent to hell.

Obama lovers love to blame Bush for deficit spending but never take responsibility for the massive deficit spending by Obama. They have no convictions at all on deficit spending. If the spending is for the sleazy Obama supporters then they love it. If the spending is for other things then they blame the Conservatives. It is hypocrisy.

Obama took a bad situation and made it worse by growing the size of government and punishing the real people that make profit in the economy, which is what stupid Left Wingers love to do.

The Democrats and Obama will lose their power in the next two elections. However, if the Republicans continue to be Liberal Light then nothing much will change. That is why the Tea Party is such a good thing. It will hold the candidates responsible to do the right conservative thing such as stop spending money and take the burden of government off the backs of the people.

    Posted: September 6th, 2010 03:52 PM ET

From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney
Obama flashed some anger at his rally in Wisconsin Monday.

(CNN) – Those following President Obama's prepared remarks during a speech in Milwaukee, Wisconsin Monday were thrown a bit of a curveball when it came to a description of his critics:

"Some powerful interests who had been dominating the agenda in Washington for a very long time and they're not always happy with me. They talk about me like a dog. That's not in my prepared remarks, but it's true," he told a crowd largely consisting of union members.

The line was a rare departure from a president who normally sticks close to the text of his speech and may forecast a more aggressive tone on the part of Obama as the midterms approach.

The address is the first of two speeches this week in which Obama will try and frame his administration's response to the recession, less than two months ahead of midterm elections where Democratic majorities in the House and Senate are on the ropes.
