Let me start by saying i follow current events very closely,and I am concerned about what we face as a nation not only in the middle east but here at home.Shortly after 911 I began trying to figure out what weaknesses we as a nation present to our enemies.The most disturbing and almost full proof plan I could think of was an attack on our childrens schools.Today 4/16/07 a single gunman managed to kill 33 poeple at a Virginia college.Although these are sad times we must use this event to look forward.We must use this to our advantage to better protect our children and our country.
The scenerio I've come up with would be devastating to the American way of life for years,it is very inexpensive,and would not attract attention to the terrorists before the act was committed.

A group of 100 terrorists already living in states around America plan to attack the American poeple.The group of 100 would then form 20 smaller groups of 5.Each one of the 20 groups would be based in a different state.These men most likely already have small arms or can obtain them easily without leaving a papertrail.Then on a day like any other all 20 groups would head to 20 different schools and carry out there mission.

This would bring fear to Americans forever,sending our children to school after such an event would be almost impossible.Not to mention all the families that would suffer the loss of there children,and the civil unrest over the fact that the U.S goverment has let such a thing happen.This scenerio I have described would destroy American spirit and bring a fear into our lives worse than the tragic day Sept,11,01.this scenerio also would be very hard to track because the poeple who carry it out live next to us,they would have a seemingly normal life.If by a stroke of luck one group was caught on the way to the school there is still 19 others to carry out the act.
We must better prepair ourselves for such an attack.We must have metal detectors and armed guards at every entrence and exit of every school in America.This will not cost a significant amount yet it can stop or delay and act of terror like this.This is a very small price to pay to spare thousands of our children a unimagineable fate.I plan to push this subject through all branches of goverment untill every one of our schools are defended with these simple countermeasures.We must push for this as Americans,your political backround or stance must not get in the way of protecting America.
I ask that everyone whos reads this and sees the danger keep this thread alive and bring the subject of school security to light.Take 5 minutes out of your day to write your local congressman or woman about this topic.If poeple don't find for whats right we can expect something more more tragic than we faced today.
