| British still in denial over homegrown terror threat The hamlet of Mark Cross, deep in rural East Sussex, is a quintessentially English village. Yet now bemused locals learn that their quiet little patch of English countryside may also have been an Al Qaeda training camp. A Gothic pile on the edge of the village is said to have been used as a school for terror once frequented by Abu Hamza, where Muslim boys were indoctrinated and selected for holy war against the West. Much of Britain appears to be reeling from the scale of what is now unfolding. The Mark Cross operation was one of a series of anti-terror raids around the country last weekend, including the arrest of 14 suspects at a restaurant in South London. This in turn follows the discovery last month of the alleged plot to blow up ten transatlantic airliners, following which 15 British Muslims have now been charged.
