'UK Making Iraq Worse'

The presence of British troops in Iraq is making the situation there worse, the head of the British Army has said.

General Sir Richard Dannatt's sensational attack comes only shortly after he took over as Chief of The General Staff.

He told tomorrow's Daily Mail that British troops should start to move out of Iraq because they are starting to endanger security there.

He told the paper: "We are in a Muslim country and Muslims' views of foreigners in their country are quite clear.

"As a foreigner, you can be welcomed by being invited in a country, but we weren't invited certainly by those in Iraq at the time.
